REFLECTIONS ON THE YEAR THAT SMIRKED AND PASSED BY

The long laborious days have seen,
The usual bright Sun losing its sheen.

Dark clouds bring much agony and mayhem,
The mind and body respond almost the same.

There is nothing much to offer except the mundane regular monotony of life,
Battles, won and lost along with those being fought, continue launching deep-rooted mental strife.

Milton's paradise have long been lost in such arduous fights,
The future marred by darkness fails to promise the presence of innumerable well lit lights.

That Man is a social animal,is an old saying,
Today, everywhere it is only an animal with all the monstrous blood baying.

The struggles and fights crown winners, admonishes the losers,
History chooses to remember the champions, conveniently forgetting the runners.

Whether I shall be remembered is the result of tests imposed by troubled times,
But whither shall I be is perhaps a question of a few dollars and dimes.
